I first saw Against Me! at Gilman and I was fucking blown away by their performance. The whole crowd participated with songs, danced, and sang along. Before you know it your not just watching from the back your in the pit dancing and feeling the music and before you know it your hooked. You have just become an Against Me! fan. You shell out your 10 dollars and get the cd: "Reinventing Axel Rose" Listen to it and your yet again, blown away. Such powerful words and music comes from such a young band. I would have never expected such words from people so close in my age.

The CD starts off with a song that touched my heart. "Pints of Guinness Make you Strong" The song tells a story about a women whose husband has passed 37 years previously on St. Patrick`s day in 1964 and featres lyrics about her greiving. It`s a truly moving song.

Against me! is a rather political band and their approach to such topics was done with poise and intellegence. This band knows their shit and isnt afraid to voice it. In addition to having a serious tone in their music they grace us with a song about anarchy called "Baby, I`m an Anarchist" (which was probably the most requested song at their show) The band has a screamy/punk sound to their music which was a nice change of pace to the other types of music I have been listening to recently.

"We Laugh at Danger and Break all the Rules" In this song we hear such a great voice erupt from the singer. Packed with a nice drum beat and a somber tone this is one of my favorite tracks on the cd. The lyrics in this song make you want to hear more and more of Against me!

"Eight Full Hours of Sleep" is an extremly touching song."When you sleep, theres no such thing as homeless. When you sleep, you can`t feel the hunger. When you sleep, no one is lonely in a dream. Without nations, without nations, when you sleep.." Such lyrics can only make listeners evaluate their life and the beauty of truth in those lyrics.

These songs being perfect examples show you just how talented of a band they are. The cd is filled with creativity, edge, and the urge to want more. I definatly suggest this cd to anyone who enjoys this genre of music. Happy listening!
