Dillinger Four
Situationist Comedy
Fat Wreck Chords 2002

Let me start by saying I am not a big fan of Fat Wreck Chords but a huge Dillinger Four fan. I think most of the Fat lineup sounds too much like NOFX and they don't have a lot of bands that are really unique or that stand out. That being said I was pretty shocked when I saw that Dillinger Four signed to Fat because they sound nothing like the rest of the Fat roster, I thought it would be a great breath of fresh air for the Fat label. Situationist Comedy is the first D4 release on Fat and although its a good album it is dissapointing for various reasons. First off the new album sounds much more poppy then their previous stuff, almost like they are trying to sound more like the rest of the Fat bands and fit in instead of being tottally different liek they were when they were signed to Hopeless. Another problem is that the lyrics are not as powerful as previous D4 releases, they seemed to have calmed down a bit, in Versus God and Midwestern Songs there is a lot of anger and aggression in the lyrics, this one has definitely stpeed back as far as that aspect goes. The CD is still good and worth owning its just not as strong as their two full lengths released on Hopeless.
