Chimera is the latest release by The Cost the Lookout! Records release features 9 amazingly composed songs. The Cost has a unique sound that compares to At The Drive In, powerful lyrics and melodies. Something that stands out the most to me with this record is that the band doesn`t have the need to fill every part of the cd with words, having long melodic intros and solos and will amaze listeners. When I first listened to the cd I was instantly hooked, I couldn`t stop listening to it, in the car, in the shower, on the computer, any time I could I had it in. Then about a week later I realized I need not neglect my other favorite bands. Comparing this record to that of others I love is this one has a much more serious tone, and well thought out lyrics. Hated Man is just a moving and powerful song that makes you want to know the history and how it became. With their scream-ish indie sound you become lost in their songs, it was also nice to pick up a cd that has songs well over 2 minutes long. Symptomatic is such a beautiful song, not quite as lyrical as the other songs and well toned down, its just a great song. This is a band that doesn`t need to have "flashy" solos to prove their great musicans, and after listening to the record it becomes quite unnecessary. The whole record has a somber tone but suprisingly it doesn`t leave you feeling that way, its a record you might find yourself taking aggression out with. This isn`t going to be a long review, there isnt much to say other then its a fucking astonishing album and if this is your type of music you would be lame not to check it out. Also, their live show fucking rocks so check that out too. Overall I really liked the record. Each song is perfected, no filler, no bullshit. Just pure "indie" melodic rock. Check it out, you can hear some mp3`s at www.thecost.org
You can read more about The Cost under "show reviews" and there will be an interview up within the next couple weeks. Check that shit out, yo.
