Wesley Willis, Grand Buffet, Custom On It, The Rapscallionz
The Outhouse, Los Gatos
Ok I gotta say Wesley Willis's CDs rock, its funny as hell to listen to him rave and I can't help myself but laugh at some of his outragious lyrics. So finnally I got to go see the guy in person. The Outhouse was packed man, so many people showed up that they couldn't let everyone in, lucky for me I had my LocalZine press pass and got to go right in (yeah right, it was a cold wait outside but the bus rolled up and we got to go in.) SO yeah the Rapscallionz opened up with a paraody of NWA's "Straight out of Compton" called "Straight out of San Jo" Pure comedy when one of the guys pulls out a gun and starts waving it while "busting his flows." Yeah then they covered Op Ivy which was rocking as well. I have to say these guys were funny and I enjoyed it. Next was Custom On It and they were ok, just your basic rock band, their bassist was really good though. Ok next was the Grand Buffet, as funny as Mr. Willis was these guys were the highlight of the damn show. I have never heard anything so funny. They were rap but with amazing lyrics and awesome stage show, the guys just fed off each other and it rocked. Some drunk kid got on stage and danced with them as well. SO yeah go to www.grandbuffet.com and check them out. Last up was big Wesley Willis. He delivered some good hits but the vocals were hard as hell to understand. The best parts were when he would tell the crowd to shut the fuck up and what not. Good comedy.. it got hot in there though. He ended with my favorite tune of his, "Cut The Mullet." All in all a good night of interesting music. Keep it real and don't get caught eating shit.
